The story goes that of nanotechnology originated from Richard Feynman's lecture There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom; however, the term itself wasn't coined until 1974 by Japanese professor Norio Taniguchi. And it wasn't until the mid-1980s that nanotechnology began to flourish, due to the research conducted by a few notable scientists:Kim Eric Drexler, Gerd Binnig, Heinrich Rohrer, Harry Kroto, Richard Smalley and Robert Curl.
