Thanks for this great post. I have been using Google adwords keyword tool to do all my research and it’s really great.
I would also suggest that internet marketers check out wordstream to be able to generate long tailed keywords that shows intent to buy.

If more newcomers to internet marketing were to focus on the basics, like keyword research, & then structured their site around those keywords, there would be many more success stories.
Other than the above two recommended resources, I’ve also used SEO Book in the past with great success.

I keep picking up these little tips about keywords and keyword research and they are all great.
I had looked at one of my lists before and there were 26 associated niche keywords I pulled out that totaled over 120,000 searches a month and they will all rank quickly with a little extra work.

These are pretty standard keyword research tips that anyone setting up a new site should be doing.
If you are not doing this – you will NOT get anywhere in the search engines and will be completely wasting your time.

The title “Cluster the top keywords according to intention” seems to me to conflict with the statement “Organize all these similar phrases into different lists”.

I use keyword research at every stage of my online marketing efforts and it’s the single most important part of building up my online businesses.
These are a great list of tip and I especially like the tip about adding ‘how’ to the main ‘market’ keyword to get a list of problems people want solved or services they require, I’ll definitely be trying this one!
I would also add that it’s important to look at how well optimised the other websites are that you will be competing against in the top 10 of Google. The most important aspect here is how many backlinks are directed to the page that is optimised for that page.

After reading this article, I did find one or two interesting things about doing keyword research.
And you guys have put it plain and simple. I appreciate that.
Having said that, I wold like to add something to this simple tips…
Even if you find ‘good keywords’ using the guideline from the IMC team here, you must know that there’s no guarantee that they will make you profit.
You see, online, visitors have many intentions when they type in a keyword.
And the best intention you want, is the intention to buy. Online, we call this ‘commercial intention’.
The tools listed above may, or may not, provide you with the info.
And if the team is ‘sincere’, they’ll tell you how to go about discovering this.
I’ll leave to them to take over the show, can I team?
