Jerry Seinfeld has defeated a lawsuit claiming he stole the Netflix hit "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" from a former colleague who said he had pitched the idea for the show a decade before its debut. U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan in Manhattan on Monday said Christian Charles took too long to sue, having waited six years to file his lawsuit after Seinfeld had in 2012 rejected his copyright claim. "Today's victory is a complete vindication," Seinfeld's lawyer, Orin Snyder, said in a statement.

Here’s Why Pete Davidson Wasn’t on the ‘SNL’ Premiere
For “Saturday Night Live” fans who tuned in to the show’s 45th season premiere last night, there was one lingering question after the cameras turned off: where was Pete Davidson?Davidson had taken a leave of absence from “SNL” last season after posting a troubling Instagram post in which he confessed that he didn’t “want to be on this earth anymore.” Fortunately, Davidson was missing last night for a much better reason: he was in Atlanta working with James Gunn on the upcoming sequel to “Suicide Squad.”View this post on Instagram Some of TheSuicideSquad (and Pom). Many of us are doing weird things in this photo. After a screening of Joker (thanks @wbpictures!)A post shared by James Gunn (@jamesgunn) on Sep 28, 2019 at 5:30pm PDTOn Saturday, Gunn posted a picture on Instagram with Davidson and several other members of the cast of “The Suicide Squad,” including Margot Robbie, Nathan Fillion and Jai Courtney. The photo was taken following a screening of “Joker,” which hits theaters this Friday.Davidson’s role in “The Suicide Squad” is being kept secret for now, but he will be appearing in a loaded cast that includes Gunn’s fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe alums Michael Rooker and Taika Waititi, as well as John Cena, Idris Elba and Viola Davis. The film is set for release on Aug. 6, 2021.Along with this DC movie, Davidson is also set to star in an animated adaptation of the newspaper comic “Marmaduke” lending his voice to the famous dog, as well as in the 2020 dramedy “Staten Island,” which he co-wrote with Judd Apatow.Read original story Here’s Why Pete Davidson Wasn’t on the ‘SNL’ Premiere At TheWrap

Stormy Daniels to Get $450,000 Settlement After Arrest at Columbus Strip Club
Adult-film star Stormy Daniels has reached a $450,000 settlement with the city of Columbus, Ohio, to resolve a lawsuit she filed over her arrest while performing at a strip club in July 2018.“During today’s mediation, all parties agreed that a settlement of $450,000 was fair given the facts and circumstances involved,” Meredith Tucker, a spokeswoman for the city attorney’s office, said on Friday.Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was charged with three misdemeanor counts of illegally touching a patron at the city’s Sirens Gentlemen’s Club. The charges were dropped after 12 hours, and Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs soon called the arrest by four vice officers “a mistake.”Also Read: That Time Seth Rogen Appeared in a Film (or 2) With Stormy Daniels (Video)“While the presence of Vice officers at this establishment is reasonable, the motivations behind the officers’ actions will be reviewed internally to ensure that our Core Values and duty to serve our community to the best of our ability continue to be the basis for our actions,” Jacobs added.Daniels’ lawyer at the time, Michael Avenatti, called the arrest “a setup” and “politically motivated.” In a lawsuit filed against the city in January, Daniels said she was targeted by the vice officers because they were supporters of President Donald Trump and “entered into a conspiracy to arrest her” in retaliation for her public accusations that she had an extramarital affair with him before he became president. The Columbus police department’s vice unit was later the subject of a federal corruption investigation and was shut down in March shortly after one of its detectives was indicted on charges unconnected to the Daniels case, according to the New York Times. The settlement is subject to approval by the Columbus City Council.Read original story Stormy Daniels to Get $450,000 Settlement After Arrest at Columbus Strip Club At TheWrap

Metallica Scraps Rest of 2019 Tour as Lead Singer James Hetfield Enters Rehab
Metallica lead singer James Hetfield has re-entered rehab, forcing the band to postpone its upcoming concert tour in Australia and New Zealand.“As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again,” the band announced in a string of tweets on Friday. The 56-year-old singer-songwriter has previously discussed his struggles with addiction and alcoholism, particularly in the 2004 documentary “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.”Also Read: Metallica Singer James Hetfield Lands First Acting Role in Ted Bundy Biopic“Fear was a big motivator in that for me,” told podcaster Joe Rogan two years ago. “Losing my family, that was the thing that scared me so much, that was the bottom I hit, that my family is going to go away because of my behaviors that I brought home from the road. I got kicked out of my house by my wife, I was living on my own somewhere, I did not want that. Maybe as part of my upbringing, my family kind of disintegrated when I was a kid. Father left, mother passed away, had to live with my brother, and then kind of just, where did my stuff go? It just kind of floated away, and I do not want that happening. No matter what’s going on, we’re going to talk this stuff out, and make it work.”The statement by the band — which also includes drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Rob Trujillo — said that tickets already purchased would be refunded.According to the band’s website, Metallica’s March 28 benefit concert in San Francisco is still scheduled, as is a South American tour set to begin in April 2020.Read original story Metallica Scraps Rest of 2019 Tour as Lead Singer James Hetfield Enters Rehab At TheWrap

Bill Maher on Impeachment Inquiry: ‘Trump’s Got Treason on His Computer Like Most Men Have Porn’ (Video)
On Friday’s episode of “Real Time,” Bill Maher was cautiously optimistic about the just-announced Donald Trump impeachment inquiry, noting that though ultimately nothing may happen, “there is a real chance we will know once and for all if Trump did the things he openly admits to doing.”During his opening monologue, Maher warned liberals not to get too excited yet. “It’s an inquiry. We may not get a puppy, we’re just here to look,” he said.Maher continued, saying he has “been hurt too many times” waiting for something impeachment-related. “Republicans are definitely the party of rednecks, but Democrats are the party of blue balls,” he joked. Also Read: NY Times Scrutinized for Repeatedly Interviewing the Same Trump Supporters in 'Swing Voters' StoryMaher also touched on the release of notes of the phone call Trump had with the president of Ukraine. “[Trump] asked for a favor,” Maher said. “At this rate, there’s some very serious questions, like, is there a foreign country he hasn’t asked to interfere in our elections?”Later on, Maher mentioned how the whistleblower complaint made public on Thursday said members of the Trump administration took steps to conceal compromised POTUS calls by storing them on a secret server. “Trump’s got treason on his computer like most men have porn,” Maher joked.“They are so comically inept at covering up the crimes they are committing,” Maher continued, noting the comical moment on Thursday when the Trump administration sent impeachment talking points to congressional Republicans, but also accidentally sent them to Democrats.“This is the political equivalent of sending a d—pic to your mom,” he joked.Watch the opening monologue above.Read original story Bill Maher on Impeachment Inquiry: ‘Trump’s Got Treason on His Computer Like Most Men Have Porn’ (Video) At TheWrap

‘Crisis on Infinite Earths': CW Reveals First-Look at Brandon Routh’s Superman
Brandon Routh has finally stepped back in Superman’s tights, with The CW releasing the first image of one of its three Men of Steel from its upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.Routh previously portrayed the DC Comics hero in the 2006 film “Superman Returns.” However, as you can see below, the version Routh will play on the crossover is different. It’s based on the “Kingdom Come” version of Superman that starred in a four-issue series DC published under its Elsewords imprint. It’s set in the year 2020 and follows an older Man of Steel.Jordon Nuttall/The CWRouth will be joined by fellow Supermen Tyler Hoechlin, who plays the Superman that had shown up in the “Arrowverse” so far, as well as Tom Welling reprising his version of Clark Kent from “Smallville.” Also Read: 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Crossover Adds 'Black Lightning' and Bruce WayneRouth already plays a character in the CW universe, starring on “Legends of Tomorrow” as Ray Palmer aka The Atom, which he will play in the crossover as well. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” has an ever-growing roster of past and present DC Comics superheroes. These include the entire “Arrowverse” casts from “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” newcomer “Batwoman,” and for the first time, “Black Lightning.” Erica Durance reprising her version of Lois Lane from “Smallville,” and “Batman” fan favorites Burt Ward and Kevin Conroy will appear as well. Ward is taking on an undisclosed role and Conroy will play an older Bruce Wayne from the future.View this post on Instagram “… I’m always around.” CrisisOnInfiniteEarths Superman @thecw @warnerbrostv @dccomics An amazing team put this together! It will span five hours across all five “Arrowverse” shows, including newcomer “Batwoman,” and carry over the midseason break. The crossover begins Dec. 8 with “Supergirl.” That will be followed by “Batwoman” and “The Flash” on Dec. 9 and 10, respectively. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will wrap up on Jan. 14 with “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” going back-to-back.Also Read: 'Arrow' Producers Say Final Season Will Be One Long Set Up to CW's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' CrossoverCreated by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was a best-selling 12-issue series running from 1985 to 1986 that replaced the DC multiverse, which since 1961’s “The Flash of Two Worlds” had explained the company’s varying and contradictory continuities, with a single streamlined universe and a complete reboot of most DC characters. It was a critical hit and a best-seller for DC and is credited with popularizing the idea of large-scale crossovers in
comics. In the series, The Anti-Monitor, the evil counterpart of The Monitor (played by LaMonica Garrett in the “Arrowverse”), attempts to destroy all of the different universes with the goal of becoming the sole ruler of whatever is left. He’s eventually foiled but at a staggering cost: The surviving five universes are merged into one, and a huge number of classic DC characters are killed off, seemingly for good — including both Supergirl and Barry Allen/The Flash.Read original story ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths': CW Reveals First-Look at Brandon Routh’s Superman At TheWrap
