 Best Answer:  Well, if you mean online advertising and marketing, then here's how it works and how to get started: 

1. You create online content. 
2. You promote it. 
3. (a) If the content is free, you should sell ads 
(b) If you sell the content, then I don't recommend selling ads on your website. 

Creating an online content: 
Think about an idea. What people may be demanding. What you would like to present. Maybe just a blog about your life. maybe you have a real-life business. All these will need a website. Create a website (I recommend buying a domain for your website) 

Promoting your content: 
Create social media sites for your content, for example a Facebook page and Twitter. 
Advertise your website using the top performing advertising networks like Google AdWords and Facebook ads. 

Earning profits: 
If your website is for a real-life business, then watch your business get more sales! 
If your website is of free content such as blogging or forums or other free stuff, then you should earn revenue by selling ads on your site. If you don't have anyone interested in placing ads on your site yet, you should join advertising networks like Google AdSense, Chitika etc, that will let you place their ads on your website and pay you when their advertisers pay them to place ads on your site.
